Shelter Plus Care

Program Overview

The DuBois Housing Authority administers Shelter Plus Care, which is a permanent supportive housing program for individuals and families who are defined homeless as per HUD definition at time of enrollment, have a documented disability, and are within the very-low and extremely-low-income brackets. Proof of having a Coordinated Entry Assessment is also required for program eligibility. The Shelter Plus Care Coordinator will assist with these program definitions and the many requirements of the program and coordinate the participant selection and application for the program.

Currently, the program funds housing for residents of Cameron, Clearfield, Elk, Jefferson, and McKean Counties. As of April 2024, the program will be limited to Clearfield County only.

Participants are responsible for finding their own suitable housing within the Housing Authority's jurisdiction based upon the size of the family and the requirements of the program. Program Coordinator is responsible for monitoring tenant and landlord compliance with program regulations.
